Description

Caddie comes in two parts - one to control the naming of object styles (cad layers) and one to control the appearance.

Caddie: Rename

Caddie Rename is a tool that manages the naming of the Revit object styles that get created for each of the layers in your CAD import. It can be of great use when you can not guarantee that your layers are named consistently, either because they come from multiple sources or because they were generated automatically. We must make sure that the layers are always named consistently, otherwise it is impossible to ensure that their appearance settings are set correctly.

Interface

  1. The list of CAD Files: All of your files will be listed here. Selecting one or more files from this list will show or hide all of its layers inside the layers list (3). This is an extended selection list and you can use the CTRL or SHIFT buttons to select or deselect multiple items. Alternatively you can use the “All/None” checkbox to quickly select or deselect all.

  2. The layers naming controls:

  1. The list of Layers: This will show all of the filtered layers. It has three columns. File lists where the layer came from. Old name shows the original name of the layer. New name is an input box that shows the final name of the layer.

  2. The Undo Selected button: It will revert any changes to the layers that you’ve currently selected. Remember that the layers list is an extended selection list, so you can use CTRL and SHIFT to control your selection.

  3. The Save Changes button: Use this to finalize your changes.
